Sunset Towards Swindon is an open edition fine art giclée print of an original watercolour painting by Sean Monaghan, an outdoor painter based in North Wiltshire. Painted on location on the Ridgeway looking north as the sun set, this study was made the same evening as the two Evening Towards Swindon watercolours — the sky here at its most intense, the sun disc still visible as a bright point low at the horizon, the foreground trees and landscape silhouetted against the light. The painting was made in a single rapid wash, wet-into-wet, to hold the soft dissolved edges of a fast-changing sky. The artwork is Giclée printed on Enhanced Matte Art paper — a 200gsm fine art stock with a natural matt finish.
